Privacy Policy | CakeCode
This Privacy Policy explains what information CakeCode handles on your device and what it does not. CakeCode is designed to work primarily offline and does not require an account.
1. Who we are
CakeCode (also referred to as CakeCodes) is a mobile learning application that provides offline educational lessons, diagrams, and quizzes about software engineering topics such as algorithms, software design, Android/Kotlin, system design, and related pillars.
CakeCode is provided by Nebulaz Apps.
2. Offline by design
Lesson text, quizzes, diagrams, and other learning content ship inside the app package and are loaded from on-device assets. CakeCode does not operate a CakeCode content server that syncs your reading history to the cloud as part of normal use.
Browsing lessons, marking favorites, tracking completed lessons, adjusting appearance, and taking quizzes are processed locally on your device.
3. Information stored on your device
CakeCode may store the following locally using Android storage mechanisms such as DataStore:
- Favorites and completed lesson identifiers
- Appearance and reading preferences (theme, typography, code language, and similar settings)
- Onboarding completion state
- Quiz preference snapshots (for example mixed-quiz or per-pillar quiz settings)
- Other in-app UI state needed to restore your experience
This information stays on your device unless you choose to export a backup file.
4. Backups you export or import
If you use Export backup, CakeCode creates a JSON file that you save to a location you choose (for example Files or Drive). That file can include favorites, completed lesson ids, appearance settings, quiz preferences, and related progress fields.
If you use Import backup, CakeCode reads a JSON file you select and replaces the corresponding local data on this device. You control where backup files are stored and who can access them outside the app.
CakeCode does not upload backup files to a CakeCode backend. Any cloud storage involved is only whatever you personally choose in the Android system file picker.
5. Voice search
Optional voice search uses the device’s speech recognition activity (typically provided by Google or another system app via Android’s RecognizerIntent). Spoken audio is handled by that system component according to its own privacy policy, not by a CakeCode server.
CakeCode only receives the recognized text result (if any) to run a local search in the lesson catalog. CakeCode does not store microphone recordings. Processing is ephemeral from CakeCode’s perspective. If speech recognition is unavailable, voice search simply does not work; core learning features remain usable without the microphone.
For Google Play Data safety, this optional feature is disclosed under Microphone: used for app functionality, not for advertising, and not required to use CakeCode.
6. What we do not collect
CakeCode does not require registration, does not sell personal information, and does not include third-party advertising SDKs in the current product.
CakeCode does not use the lesson content as a channel to profile you for ads. Progress and favorites are for your learning experience on the device.
7. Children
CakeCode is a professional learning reference. It is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app to submit personal information about children.
8. Ownership of content vs. your data
The educational content in CakeCode, including lesson text, quizzes, diagrams, illustrations, structure, and future improvements or expansions of that catalog, is owned by CakeCode / the CakeCode rights holders and is protected as described in the Terms of Use.
Your local preferences, favorites, completion marks, and backup files you create remain under your control on your device (and wherever you choose to store exports).
9. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy for that version of the app.
10. Contact
For privacy questions about CakeCode, use the developer contact on our Contact or the developer details listed on the CakeCode Google Play Store listing.
